Winning design selected in Trailblazer Sign Design competition.

My design has been selected the winner!

From the Brighton-Pittsford Post newspaper article on the competition:

[The signs] will help direct local residents and visitors to major points of interest and attractions along the six-mile roadway, through the city of Rochester; the town of Brighton and the town and village of Pittsford.

"The signage will add a visual for people to help them identify historical sights and the block that they are on," said Mario Daniele, president of the Monroe Avenue Corridor Study Steering Committee, whose members looked at ways to highlight Monroe Avenue.

Part of their vision was to install a system of trailblazer signs which help motorists find their way to local points of interest and to illustrate the theme for the Monroe Avenue strip as 'Main Street for Monroe County.'

Herrmann's design was chosen as the winner from a number of submissions from all over Monroe County, for his creativity and originality, and its reflection of the history and unique character of Monroe Avenue.

The final versions of these signs were scheduled to be installed along Monroe Avenue in Fall 2003, but the installation has been delayed due to New York State budget restrictions. I will post updated information when it is available.
